Stress and Anxiety

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, is one of the most effective treatments for anxiety, stress, social anxiety and panic attacks.  The British Medical Journal currently recommends Applied Relaxation and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy as the two most effective therapies for anxiety. We believe that combining these two therapies with hypnosis makes for a highly effective treatment approach.

Using a skills-based model for treating anxiety, you will develop techniques to become deeply calm.  We employ relaxation, self-hypnosis and then develop personal skills to induce more helpful, realistic ways of thinking.


In dealing with anxiety or stress you'll learn a rapid relaxation technique to lower the level of muscle tension and arousal throughout the body, then use self-hypnosis to deepen relaxation and gain confidence.  As your confidence and ability grow, we begin to introduce structured exposures to challenging situations, while focusing on relaxing the body more deeply, to recondition the brain and body to remain calm. We will uncover negative and distorted automatic thoughts and correct them through discussion and under hypnosis.

Exposure and rehearsal under hypnosis stimulates improvements in behaviour and thinking, while staying physically and emotionally calm and relaxed.  It is repeated many times so that new automatic responses are created.  You'll discover your own inner resources for becoming relaxed and centred to approach and overcome the source of the issue.
